Built with G1 duralumin for exceptional durability, the MONOCOQUE BODY design accommodates a larger, thicker gear – 10% larger and 6% thicker than the previous model. Precisely engineered gear teeth enhance drive efficiency, while minimal deflection ensures stable, consistent meshing. This reduces power loss, providing smooth and effortless winding performance.
The redesigned two-ball bearing pillar support system enhances oscillation efficiency by 20%, ensuring smooth, responsive, and powerful winding, even under heavy loads. Frictional resistance is significantly reduced, providing reliable performance and ultimate control when tackling the strain of the largest fish in the ocean.
The redesigned TOUGH LINE ROLLER SYSTEM is enlarged to endure repeated heavy loads, and the updated design better integrates the screw with the bail arm. Removing joints at high-stress points enhances rigidity and durability around the line roller. The new line roller, optimized for PE braided lines, reduces sliding resistance by approximately 3%.
The new POWERDRIVE ROTOR is engineered for strength and efficiency. Crafted to handle the heaviest loads, this rotor delivers superior stability, allowing anglers to pull in the largest of fish with ease. The unique shape, which appears as though it was cut from a sphere, maintains low inertia and has an increased rigidity of 7%.
The POWERDRIVE ROTOR ensures that each turn of the handle translates into a smoother, more powerful retrieve, even under extreme pressure.
The new crank-shaped design directs line smoothly to the line roller without fail. The redesigned shape and spring mechanism enhances opening and closing angles, preventing unintentional bail movement. This improvement significantly enhances line feeding to the roller, especially during jigging and while the line is tensioned.
Drags that use carbon washers are highly durable, but DRD takes it to another level with a new drag mechanism designed to target larger fish. Equipped with eight metal rollers on a single metal plate, DRD controls the loss of drag force caused by frictional heat. It is smooth under pressure and is 5x times more durable.
The incredibly durable DRD Drag System is used for 18000 size and above.
The ATD TOUGH DRAG delivers exceptional drag strength and smoothness. The large carbon drag stack provides anglers with the ultimate in smooth performance and reliability.
Up to 14000 size, DAIWA's ATD Carbon washers are used for reliable and smooth drag control.
With support from a new full metal MONOCOQUE (MQ) body concept, 25 SALTIGA has gained extra strength and retrieve power compared to previous models.
A new MONOCOQUE (MQ) body design further enlarges internal body space to allow larger drive gear to be installed. MQ construction also allows the engine plate to replace the need for screws to stabilize the drive gear. MQ concept improves support of the internal parts and adds durability and resistance to intrusion.
DAIWA’s "LC-ABS SW" technology enhances power and rigidity. The spool’s upper section is optimized with a two-step taper toward the spool ring, minimizing friction for smoother line release.
Its narrow width prevents tangling, even during the final stages of casting with less line remaining. This design ensures smooth casting with thick lines and improves casting distance by approximately 2% providing anglers with an improved casting experience.
MAGSEALED is a technology that implements a special liquid material developed originally for aerospace engineering called MAGOIL. MAGOIL is used to create a water and dust-resistant barrier in lieu of traditional rubber seals.
This is an innovative water resistance method that maintains rotational performance. The ultimate focus of MAGSEAL was to protect the gearing inside the reel body and the bearings. Two of the key components to protect if overall performance is to be preserved.
MAGSEALED bearings have been designed to last longer than traditionally sealed ball bearings. The balls are encapsulated in a completely waterproof housing. The inner and outer rings are magnetized and joined by waterproof and stable MAGSEALED oil.
This means the initial performance of the reel will be indefinitely preserved. The longevity is beyond comparison to a waterproof industrial bearing.
25 SALTIGA is equipped with MAGSEALED bearings on both sides of the drive gear.

Light and strong like a Formula 1 racing car. Lighter and stronger through Monocoque Body technology.
Since the first spinning reels it was common sense that the body is made up of two parts: The reel body and the body lid. With its introduction 2016 the Monocoque body design simply crushed this long-standing paradigm. At the Monocoque design, the reel body serves as a stiff and distortion-proof frame, which is handy and compact at the same time.
Thus the body lid has no longer to be secured with a screw and the resulting free space can be used for a larger driving wheel. By this design, the reel body can house a driving wheel, which diameter is about 85% of the body surface. To put it simple: This design allows the use of larger and thus stronger driving wheels at the same body size.
The MagSealed principle is based on a special magnetic oil, which has been developed by the NASA to transport fuel to the starships based on the magnetic principle. Such an oil for reel production is not available in the super market. It has to be manufactured under most difficult circumstances. The embedded ferric oxide, which is necessary for the magnetic field has a diameter of 1/100.000mm and is that small, that the surface of a single particle has the tenth of the size of an influenza virus.
The molecules in this new "metal oil" are capable of changing. If they are exposed to a magnetic field, they change their shape and the oil forms a fluid seal. This magnetic oil is that strong, that it would stick to a magnetic bucket, even if the bottom was cut out.
Such a seal, based on the principle of liquid magnetic oil produces nearly no friction, isolates perfectly and prevents even penetrating of little dust particles. The big challenge for the DAIWA engineers was the development of a reel, which is designed for the principle of the magnetic oil to generate a kind of liquid membrane, that prevents water penetration. The MagSeal design is based on the purpose to keep water away from a spinning reel. First of all for sea anglers this is an amazing idea - since it promises a longer life span. No corrosion, better function. If salt water penetrates the reel and dries, it crystallizes, corrodes the gearing and affects the ball bearings.
The simplest solution for implementing a sealed mechanism, would have been the usage of a rubber seal. But this would cause such a strong friction, that an isolation of the rotor and axis would have been impossible. Only the use of a metallic oil in combination with a magnet provides the desired isolation effect without heavy friction. Years of research and development were required to develop such a reel isolation.
We call this liquid isolation MagSealed.
FUNCTIONALITY
To prevent the penetration of water, dust particles or salt crystals between rotor and reel body, we have developed a nearly frictionless barrier based on magnetic oil, which cannot be overcome by neither water nor smallest particles. The result is a silky-smooth running.
The smoother a line roller turns, the less friction emerges between line and roller. If delicate salt or dirt particles penetrate the line roller, it is continuously dragged and the friction is considerably increased.
The magnetic MagSealed oil forms a barrier, which prevents the intrusion of water and therefore also of salt and dirt particles into the line roller, which could affect the free rotation.
Our DAIWA technology further on changes the fishing tackle market. Our engineers succeeded in further devolving the Mag Sealed invention to a new level. First we sealed the axis, then the line roller and now the ball bearing!
MagSealed is a new chapter in the history of the fishing reel. Thanks to our targeted research and development, we succeeded in integrating MagSealed into a ball bearing. For a long lifespan and a silky-smooth running over a long period. A revolution!

In October 2009, this "Think Clean" activity was renamed and streamlined by "BE EARTH-FRIENDLY" and we do not only clean up fishing environments, but also support the activities of the Daiwa Young Fishing Club (Daiwa Young Fishermen's Club) in Japan.
In addition to cleaning up fishing grounds, the company has also been involved in activities to convey the importance of the natural environment to children through schools such as the Daiwa Young Fishing Club (DYFC) and the development of environmentally friendly products.
